Miss Imp is sitting in her whelping box, and you can see some of the 'puppy supplies' that we keep nearby, just in case they are needed.  You might be able to tell how much of her coat Imp has already lost.  As soon as mother dogs wean their pups, they lose all, and I mean all, of their coat.  I say they look like POW's, and its true.  But when their coat does grow back, it is absolutely beautiful.  Imp says she is not looking her best these days and would I please refrain from too many close up personal shots.

August 19:  Hard to believe how the pups are growing now.  So many things have happened.  The pups are definitely hearing.  They know our voices, and those heads come right up when we talk to them.  Imp is really bonded to these pups and we often see them sitting in front of her, and one or more of them is putting a paw on her nose.  They will exchange licks.  The pups love to be picked up and held, and they will nuzzle against my cheek.  They have found their voices for sure, and Mr Purple, Bopper, has that puppy trill-growl down pat.  He practices it on his brothers if they try to engage him in too much play.  The pups will play with each other now by batting their paws in the air.  Blue tries to get the other 2 to wrestle with him, Blue Ritchie is the most coordinated at the moment.  Nails have been done for the 2nd time, and the daily 'super puppy' exercises continue.  They are each getting very good at letting me put them on their backs.  They relax pretty quickly now with that, and also with the holding in the air.  Puppy Racket audio tape starts today.  More pics and second deworming tomorrow.  Pups will be 3 weeks old.  My! how time flies by.

RBIS GRCH 'Imp' Our beloved Miss Imp (Reserve Best In Show winner, and a Grand Show Champion) has her litter
                                         on the ground.
This is a wonderful litter of B.B. and B.Y. blacks boys, very moderate in size,
hopefully with all of Momma Imp's smartness
and joie-de-vivre and all of Pappa Hawkeye's carefree attitude and rugged
good looks, fabulous coats, and superb substance.  Both of these dogs excel in
front assembly, short coupling, head type and coat.  Both are excellent retrievers.
Imp is one of our 'pupsicles' from June and Calvin.

Jeannie gives me ringside kisses at Potomac

Jeannie is every conformation person's dream come true.  In 2002 when we knew June was carrying a singleton puppy out of CH Chelon's Mac The Knight, we picked out 1 name for a male pup and 1 name for a female pup.  The 'Dream' names we chose represented the blood tie to June, Midsummer Knights Dream.  The puppy was a male, and the rest is history -- he became our beloved Martin, "I Have A Dream".  Naturally, when Martin's first litter was born (to Jasmine), we named the darling, feisty little girl the 'other name' we had held close.  " I Dream of Jeannie" thus was christened.  Her song I sing to her to the Stephen Foster tune is 'I Dream Of Jeannie with the dark brown eyes."  And every day I tell her, "I dreamed of you before you were born."  And I did.

Jeannie has always loved to travel and to be with us.  Many was the time as puppies that she and sister Ella would vie for our attention.  That's how I think Jeannie got her 'hey, look at me attitude."  You can certainly see it in the show ring.  Jeannie just sets herself squarely and wags that tail, asking for her treat AND to be noticed.  I have never had to hand stack Jeannie -- everything you see is truly her.

Jeannie finished her United Show Champion and Grand Show Champion titles almost before she was leash broken.  She went on to earn not 1 but 4 Best In Multi-Breed Show awards AND a Best In Specialty Show award.  We take her out sparingly so as not to 'burn out' her love of showing.  Jeannie was in the UKC Top Ten in 2005 and 2006.

Jeannie at LRC Potomac showing herself off !

Jeannie is a delightful girl who is always full of herself, who loves to play and run with the other dogs, who is ready for any adventure life throws her way.  Jeannie is eager to please, wants to be with us and is always cheerful.  She is 21 inches tall, has all her clearances and is dominant black (like her parents).  Click here to see Jeannie's clearances at OFA
